Big Five PersonalityOcean Test

Privacy Policy

Read the OCEAN Test privacy policy to understand browser-based answers, saved assessments, account data, cookies, retention, and your choices about your data.

Scope

This policy describes how OCEAN Test handles information when you use our personality questionnaires, account features, saved assessments, and support services.

Taking your test

Basic scores are calculated in your browser. Questionnaire answers are not submitted to our report service unless you choose to save an assessment to your account. Answer progress and report drafts use session storage in the current browser tab. The application discards saved progress older than 24 hours when it is loaded. Closing a tab normally clears session storage, but browser session-restoration features may restore it. Use Start over or clear site data to remove local progress, especially on a shared device.

Accounts and saved assessments

If you create an account, we process your name, email address, authentication information, and account timestamps. Authentication records can include your IP address and browser information. When you choose Save my assessment, we store your answers, scores, questionnaire version, and creation date with your account. The server recalculates the scores from the submitted answers.

Technical information and cookies

Hosting and security services may process request logs, IP addresses, and browser information. Account features use authentication cookies. Account pages may also record referral and campaign information, including short-lived attribution cookies, to identify how users reached the service. Browser storage is used for questionnaire progress and account preferences.

Website analytics

We use self-hosted Plausible Analytics and Google Analytics on public test and information pages to measure visits and site usage. Our analytics integration does not send questionnaire answers, scores, names, or email addresses. Tracking scripts are not installed on sign-in, saved-report, or admin pages. Google analytics storage and advertising consent are set to denied; advertising personalization is disabled.

How information is used

We use this information to provide tests and saved reports, authenticate accounts, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, investigate errors, and meet applicable legal obligations. Questionnaire answers are not needed to contact support.

Service providers and payments

Hosting, database, authentication, and email providers process information needed to operate the service. Support correspondence is handled through our email services. If paid reports are enabled, the selected payment provider processes payment details; we store order identifiers, payment status, currency, amount, and the associated assessment. Our application does not store full payment-card numbers. Support messages sent to support@oceantest.net are routed through Cloudflare to a Gmail inbox. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Retention and deletion

Saved assessments remain associated with your account until you delete them or request deletion. Deleting an assessment removes its answer and score record from the application database. Related payment records may need to remain for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling, or legal requirements. Logs and backups may be retained separately for security, recovery, and applicable recordkeeping requirements. Deletion from the active database does not necessarily erase existing backups immediately. Contact us for information about retention or a deletion request.

Your choices and requests

You can take the test without creating an account, download your results, decline to save an assessment, and delete saved assessments from My reports. Contact support to request access, correction, account deletion, or information about your data. Rights and applicable response deadlines depend on your location. Identity verification may be required to protect your information.

Changes and contact

We will update the revision date when this policy changes. Material changes to data handling should be communicated before they take effect where required. Contact the operator using the support details on the Contact page.
